- AMQUEST Hypermodems do not use RPI technology from Rockwell. They are
- Rockwell based modems with compression being done on the modem. The
- modem has an enhanced modified architecture which provides a faster
- compression/decompression though a faster microcontroller on the card.
- They
- have been tested and have reached 230,000 bps as stated. This testing was
- done by outside reputable organizations. Current RPI technology is only
- on
- 14.4 Modems from Rockwell. There is rumor about RPI 28.8 but it is not
- released as yet. The AMQUEST HyperModem uses Rockwell ACI technology
- with faster architecture and firmware than other Rockwell modems from
- other
- vendors. In addition, it is also faster than the published 33.6 maximum
- rate of
- 115,200!! found on TI based designs. These are constrained at 115,200 by
- the
- manufacturers.
- I hope this answers your question. It probably will trigger many
- responses to
- me.
- It does do what it says. Naturally, it is constrained by the other modem
- on the
- other end. However, if you call an AMQUEST Hypermodem or another high
- performance modem (High Priced Modem) you should see significant
- performance improvement over many modems. The AMQUEST Hyper is
- very inexpensive relative to the competition
- I work at AMQUEST. In fact, I own the company. I sincerely appreciate
- your
- interest. Please feel free to call AMQUEST at 1-800-5SPEED5 for any
- other questions. Please accept this as a response to your question and
- not
- advertising.
- Thank You.
